How does exercise help ease anxiety? Does it only ease it for the moment?

I exercise everyday and suffer from anxiety. I take medicine to cope with anxiety and it usually works for me. I haven’t been to the gym since friday and saturday my anxiety came back (my period also came on saturday so the anxiety might have to do with my monthly coming on and it went off today). I always hear that exercising is good for anxiety. I noticed that too, but it only works for the moment then I’m back to experiencing anxiety like an hour later.

Chosen Answer:

Exercising releases endorphins, allowing you to feel better. Yes, it wares off, but if you consistently exercise on a daily basis, you’re happiness will improve.

the exercise needs to be done with muscles relaxed and while breathing deep and slow
start slowly and warm up as a fast start can cause a panic attack
