What’s the best way to get your doctor to prescribe Valium?
I find that when I say that I have anxiety, they always try to prescribe me anti-depressants, where I prefer something like Valium that I can just take as needed rather than everyday, however they always seem so worried about prescribing it.
Chosen Answer:
NEEDING it is good….self-medicating/drug-seeking is NOT.

You can’t “get” them to prescribe anything. Honesty is the best policy, always.
I’m sure many primary care docs have been burned with patients becoming addicted, or diverting it. They risk their licenses when prescribing that stuff.

The best way … well that would be to have the right indications for valium to be called for. Not when the patient tells the dr their job.
They are so worried about it because it is very addicting. Most of the people requesting it want it, yet don’t meet the criteria for it to be prescribed.

SSRIs are the drugs of choice for anxiety. taking a benzo is like using a band aid it does help in the long run. its because its addictive
