Anxiety…?

I am a wreck. I can’t sleep at night without calling my Mom at least once and saying, “I love you” a million times. I’m afraid something will happen to me or my family and I not there to say good-bye. I always look out my bedroom window at night to see if anything unusual is in the sky. My mom can’t be out more than two hours without me having to call her (when I stay home alone). I hate this experince! It is very frightening and I have even considered taking prescribtion medicine to wave away those types of thoughts. I have talked numerously to the school counselour, but my mind is no where near ease. I never had this anxiety (disorder) last year. It came from no where! What can I do to clear away my anxiety? (P.S. Last night, I had a dream my Dad got shot and this man walked up and said he died, but then I practically jumped awake).

Chosen Answer:

The good news is that anxiety generally responds VERY well to treatment.

There are a number of ways to go about it, but first – I would suggest you speak with your doctor to work out a plan.

You can do biofeedback, meditation (sounds true has a CD called anxiety relief that is terrific), yoga.

You can work with a cognitive-behavioral therapist who can help you get your thinking on track.

And then, there are a LOT of different meds. Some anti-depressants can be if you’re a teen this may not be the best course. There are anti-anxiety meds and then there is propranalol which inhibits the body from having anxiety reactions – so you may start to feel anxious but when your heart doesn’t race and you don’t get a stomach ache, it stops the chain of anxiety and you’re fine.

Or…you might wind up doing a combination of things. just speak with your doctor. This is totally workable!

you need to see a Dr hun and get those pills=you could work yourself up to a heart problem if you don,t and a light dose will do the trick

Go to a psychologist or psychiatrist, I go, my daughter goes, my daughter in law goes, there is not shame on that. The shame would be that you need help and you won’t get it.
The psychologist you can talk to, and the psychiatrist can prescribe any medication needed. God bless you.

This is an illness just like if someone has Diabetes. Anxiety may run in families but also may be a result of stress. Everyone has times in their life that they may feel overwelmed but when it begins to effect your everyday life you really need to see a docotor and yes depending upon the severity of your anxiety you may need a prescription medication. Please don’t feel embarrassed about having to take medication to control your anxiety, like I said it is an illness that maybe you cannot cure on your own.
