Can a slight valium over dose cause someone to have a seizure?

I was in a psychiatric hospital about a year ago and all of the sudden i had a seizure they called 911 and i was rushed to the hospital, they did tests including a spinal tap to try to figure why i had the seizure, they never found out why i had the seizure and they sent me back to the psych hospital, i believe that it may have been caused by an accidental slight over dose of valium administered by a nurse, can someone have a seizure for no underlying reason? The overdose was only like 1 extra pill but i cant remember the milligrams
i was put on valium for anxiety and i honestly dont think it was a suedo becuase i had no memory of the event and i have done research on suedoseizures and there is no black out period after one of those and i remember that it was reported that my eyes had rolled back into my head

Chosen Answer:

I doubt it very much as Valium is a relaxing, calming drug that’s more likely to put you into a sleep. They actually give epileptics a calming drug along with their daily medicine to help relax them and to stop any anxiety. If I was you, I would be asking to have a MRI scan done, just to check everything is ok around the brain area.

An overdose of valium should calm the seizure. Did they put you on seizure medicine.?? If they could find no cause–then it would be just a guess as to what caused it. Just my opinion.

Valium is one drug of choice for fast relief of seizures, if given intravenously or rectally. Usually while it’s working, depending on the condition, they’d be getting ready some longer-lasting medications ready to give you.

I’m not completely sure, but I don’t think so. It could have been psychotically related.
But, also, all drugs have side effects, and there are some that can trigger seizures. Go to another doctor if you can for a second opinion.

Highly unlikely that one can get a seizure from valium cause that is a treatment to break a seizure. Now one can get a seizure if you are withdrawing from benos (valium).
Now if you are placed in a psych. floor, than most likely you could be having pseudoseizures.

One extra Valium would not cause a seizure. One extra Valium would simply calm you down further. So you need to investigate the root cause of the seizure.
