What techniques have helped you manage anxiety and depression?

I have a dual diagnosis of bipolar and OCD, and I am trying to learn to manage my moods and anxiety/obsessions, and I was wondering if anyone out there couldtell me what helped you.

Chosen Answer:

drinking hot tea.. with absolutely NO caffeine
dong quai yogi tea is really good. u wil love it.

also.. going to the gym on a regular basis..

and never eating bad foods. and.. taking a multivitamin (organic)
and 300mg fish oil eeach day.

i also keep a little pepperment oil nearby.. when i smell it it relaxes me.. puts me in a good mood
smells can really help..

also.. making sure my room is clean.. (i try)
and.. to get my work done as soon as possible. (at least try)
and when u get frustrated or really anxious.. just come away from the problem.. like right away and do something you enjoy.. even if u think its a waste of time.. u need to take ur mind off the anxious situation..
then come back when ur ready. it works

Therapy- It took me 4 years to find the right one so don’t give up if you try this and don’t like it right away. What helped so much in therapy was when we worked on retraining my thinking. So if you have sad thoughts or lazy thoughts like ” I hate this” or ” I feel sad for no reason” Then to realize what you are thinking and to reinforce it with a happy thought ” I need to do this because its important”, or “I’m not sad I’m happy” even if you aren’t its supposed to help retrain your thinking so you will eventually automatically think the positive thought over the negative thought or at least be self-aware of your negative thoughts so when you think them you can change the situation. I was really surprised about how negative my thinking was it made a lot of sense of why I was so depressed all the time. Writing done what you tend to think is also helpful when identifying what is negative about it. I have been on medication and I feel like it just made me feel either high or numb. It was also a pain to get off because I was have crazy withdrawal symptoms probably similar to a drug addict considering they mess with the same chemicals. I threw up every hour for like 3 weeks had incredibly bad migraines and felt like I was physically dying. I relapsed like 3 times before finally getting off of them for good because of the severe physical symptoms.
