Once your ativan is gone or almost gone, go back to the doctor and let him know it wasnt doing what you had hoped. Mention valium and see what he says! Good luck

valium is not really a sleeping pill..
You need to try something that is meant to be a sleeping pill, such as Ambien, or even seroquel..
Valium is actually for epilepsy, and it is also highly addictive and most doctors dont prescribe it because there are truely better medications for certain disorders…

if you don’t trust or are embarrassed by your doctor, I think you need to look for a new doctor. Your doctor should be someone you can talk to and you feel will always have your best interests at heart.
Once you find a doctor who you feel with listen to you and do what’s best for you, ask her/him about Valium and see what s/he thinks.

if you NEED strong drugs to sleep you are an addict

Ask your doctor and explain to him that the ativan is not helping. Ativan is for anxiety not sleep anyway. If you’re needing a sleep aid, try ambien. There may be another reason why he won’t prescrive valium. They usually try the more mild drugs first instead of going striaght to the hard core drugs.

Valium and ativan are anti-anxiety and muscle-relaxant drugs. They are often used as sleep aids but may not work as well as some of the newer drugs like lunesta and ambien. Neither lunesta nor ambien are habit-forming.
If you are still having trouble sleeping you should most definitely call your doctor. Discuss all alternatives with him or her. Anything can cause sleeplessness from depression to thyroid problems to hormonal problems to a snoring partner!
Sweet dreams

study the symptoms of the reason why one would go on them.
valium is highly addictive, ther is alot of other sleep meds out there. i take resterol its a good one. the doctor really does know best.

First off you need to discuss with your doctor the fact that you are not sleeping even with the Ativan.
Neither Ativan nor Valium are specific for sleep. There are other medications that he can order and he can adjust the dose for the ativan.
Stop playing doctor and stop assuming your doctor is “ignorant” and believes you are an addict. There are far more effective sleep medications he can give you other than Valium.
You get a perscription by going back to him and doing as I suggested.

The FIRST thing people think when they hear Valium is NOT addict it’s danger. First they are not for sleeping problems but MOST important is they react TERRIBLY with alcohol as in DEAD. Paul Newman and others have lost kids/ loved ones because even 1 pill with just a sip of beer can KILL you. I’m not anti drug but Valium is not a stable chemical and it stays in you for a long time so the next day you will feel hungover all day.
I’ve been an insomniac my whole life and finally discovered that no sleep is MUCH better than drugs which even when not addictive ruin your bodies natural sleep cycle so 1 mights sleep on a pill equals 2 more nights without sleep

Tell your Doctor you have “racing thoughts” and you can’t turn off your head at night. Also anxiety.

The doctor IS the only way you’ll get a legitimate Rx. Otherwise you will be dealing with a guy named Terrence down on the corner, or some quack Canadian veterinarian.
And again, why are all these pharmaceutical (recreational or legitimate) questions being asked in a Food and Drink category?
